The end of the 2011 season....
September..
Despite fewer families holidaying in Llandudno since returning to school, September was a very busy month here at Buxton House B&B Llandudno and indeed throughout the towns of Llandudno and Conwy, and beyond.
Many were overseas visitors enjoying North Wales and in particular, Snowdonia and the surrounding areas from Llandudno to Betws-y-Coed, Anglesey to the Lleyn Peninsula.

The weather was mixed throughout September, although quite warm but coming to the end of the month saw a fantastic Indian Summer with temperatures in Llandudno at around 25 degrees! Lovely!
Lots of last minute holidaymakers took advantage of this glorious weather here at Buxton House Bed & Breakfast Llandudno!

OCTOBER......
The weather in October was mixed, moments of warm sunshine, some showers and some windy days and despite a short cold spell for a few days, the weather was the average for that time of the year.

The Autumn sunshine gave a different slant on Llandudno, the sea showed various blue/green colours, the trees and the mountains a range of golds, browns and reds.
The sunsets over the Great Orme and West Shore are always beautiful at that time of the year, a must-see for tourists to North Wales.

As we entered the last full week of the season, and half term, Llandudno, Conwy, Snowdonia and Anglesey enjoyed the last bursts of tourists before some main attractions began to close for the season.
Despite this though, there were still plenty of events and things to see and do, as quite a few attractions are open most of the year.

The annual Conwy Feast within Conwy's town walls and along the quayside was a big success again. There were crowds of people enjoying the sunshine either experiencing or buying the huge variety of foods and drinks on the quay and in the marquees. We tried the Beef & Potato curry and the Red Thai Chicken curry....Phew! Hot! But lovely!
We just had to drink some of the local 'Magic' Beer to cool us down!
The longest queue was for the 'Moules Mariniere', the local mussels from Anglesey in garlic sauce.

The local drum group got everyone dancing about in the streets and in the evening the bands used lazer technology to display themselves on Conwy castle walls.
Our guests at Buxton House really enjoyed the whole experience of the Feast, treating themselves to unusual cheeses, pies and beers and enjoying the various craft displays in the marquees.
The glorious sunny day was a bonus for everyone.

As the event was all weekend, car parking in Conwy was limited with so many people at any one time, so a Park & Ride scheme was put in place which proved popular.
We advised our guests at Buxton House Llandudno, that if they didn't mind a walk, to park along the Conwy estuary at the RSPB and walk over the new footbridge and into Conwy. This is an easy walk and very picturesque.
Really nice!
November and the weather was still quite warm for the time of year, some occasional showers and some windy spells but generally a very pleasant Autumn!
Fortunately, it stayed like that for the big Firework Display over the Pier and Bay of Llandudno on 5th.!!

The 2011 Holiday Season starts....

Easter was a good one for Llandudno and what lovely weather we had!
Llandudno was full of visitors and all the B&B's were well and truly full.
Easter activities kept everyone entertained from the Victoria Centre's bunnies to Jimmy Carr appearing at the Venue Cymru.

The May Day Bank Holiday saw Llandudno in full swing with the Victorian Extravaganza Events, hard to believe it celebrated it's 25th year. It started a day earlier making it a 4 day event this year, so it started on the 29th April to coincide with the Royal Wedding.

Also on at the same time, was The Transport Festival on Bodafon Farm fields with the usual free vintage bus into town and back.

We here at Buxton House B&B had a house full who enjoyed the Easter fun in the sun and again a full house again for that Bumper May Day weekend!

The weather was fantastic for the whole of the extended weekend, bringing crowds flocking!
They all seemed to have a wonderful time on the funfair throughout Llandudno town and on Bodafon field.

The Transport Festival was heaving with all the fans of the Classic vehicles such as; cars, buses, bikes, fire engines, tractors and of course the Steam Engines themselves and enjoying browsing the many stalls.

It is as always a fantastic occasion when they all parade through Llandudno and Conwy with the stunning scenic views of Llandudno Bay.
This year was no exception.

The 2nd May was the last day with the final parade along Llandudno promenade by all the Classic vehicles at tea-time, all the hooting and beeping as they passed by!
What glorious weather it was for that!

Colwyn Bay / Rhos on Sea also had its annual Prom Day and Fun Run too, with its own funfair and stalls. This too is also popular. The day started at 10 am and finished at 5pm.

Elsewhere in North Wales, it had been very busy too, including the usual places for visitors such as Snowdon, Beddgelert, Betws y coed and Anglesey.

It was wonderful to see so many people, young and old, enjoying Llandudno and all of North Wales... Great stuff !

Buxton House B&B saw the end of May Bank Holiday and Half Term as another BUMPER week!
We're glad to say we had a full house for that weekend!

Since the fantastic last Bank Holiday, Llandudno gathered it's composure and is now constantly receiving the coach loads who regularly come to stay throughout the Summer in North Wales and particularly Llandudno.

We here at Buxton House have people coming and going all the time for various things.

Some have come to see shows at the Venue Cymru, and/or have a highly recommended Italian meal at Mama Rosa's near to us at Buxton House.
Most recent guests have stayed to see Manic Street Preachers at the Venue Cymru....glad to say it was enjoyed by the guests!

Some guests have stopped overnight at Buxton House, on their way to Holyhead, Anglesey, to catch the ferry to Ireland.

Some guests often stay for business meetings or conferences at The Venue Cymru, or The Welsh Assembly building in Llandudno Junction or even The Quay Hotel in Deganwy, both are only about 10 minutes drive from Buxton House.

Llandudno had the Three Castles Car Rally, which is always popular, not only for the participants but for holidaymakers enjoying the line up of classic cars along the promenade.

From the 1st to 4th June, Llandudno held the Albacore National Sailing Championships. This year there were 34 entries, which meant 34 sailing yachts in Llandudno Bay....a lovely sight in the gorgeous sunshine we had throughout the 4 days.
Buxton House had a house full with some of the sailing club members who really enjoyed the whole event.

The European Market set up its stalls on Conwy Quay for 3 days, 1st to 3rd July which seemed to be very popular, many visitors trying the Paella, the Frankfurter sausages and the French cakes. Again the sunshine brought the crowds to Conwy Quay, to enjoy the atmosphere, to eat the market food or the lovely local Fish & Chips or have a drink at The Liverpool Arms and for the children, Crab catching!

As always in Llandudno, the crowds came to enjoy the wonderful sunshine in early July, deckchairs on the beach, children either watching the Punch & Judy show or building sand castles, others strolling along the Pier, stopping for a drink at the end.
The town itself was also very busy, many bargains to be had in the shops, lots of people sitting in the sunshine for coffee/tea or a meal.
A great atmosphere.

Llandudno has many overseas visitors too during the main Summer holidays......and indeed Buxton House has had visitors from America, Europe and Australia, confirming that holidaying in the North Wales is still as popular as ever, which is great.......there is so much to see and do here in Llandudno North Wales and the surrounding area in the sunny weather, which has been a bonus!

August got off to a good start, despite the odd shower predicted, the sunshine was an added bonus here in Llandudno and the town and beaches were very busy.
We made a quick visit into Conwy on the Quayside and there were an abundance of children ( and parents!) Crab catching in the sunshine.....plenty of crabs seen in the buckets!
Crab catching equipment can be obtained from the Sea food Hut on Conwy Quay.
